Starting a Home Based Business

There are some differences when you want to start a home business.  Home based businesses require a lot of discipline, because it can be difficult to separate your work from the personal distractions.  For example, if you have family members who are at home while you are trying to work, they will be very tempted to interrupt you frequently because they are used to the mindset "if they are home, they are not working".

It you plan to start a home based business, it is best if you can have a separate work area that is away from the normal family interactions, such as in a bonus room or isolated office.  You will also need to establish parameters with your family so they understand that when you are in that work zone, you are not to be disturbed unless it is truly an emergency.

With that said, working at home can provide many advantages.  One of them is the low overhead you have from using space that you are already paying for.  You can also take certain home office deductions off of your taxes.
